Networks

Since the start in spring 2000, Respect has initiated and operated top-level networks that have shown leading results in sustainability in different business sectors. The aim has always been to prove that sustainable business is profitable business. The first initiative was the climate network BLICC (Business Leades’ Initiative on Climate Change), where former EU-commissioner Margot Wallström was honorary chairman.

The second Respect initiative was BLIHR (Business Leaders’ Initiative on Human Rights), led by Mary Robinson, former Prime Minister of Ireland and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. For many years, BLIHR developed successful, strategic business methods within Human Rights. These methods are used by companies such as ABB, Ericsson, MTV, Barclays Band among more.
Before the climate negotiations in Köpenhamn (COP15) Respect operated the Road to Copenhagen initiative together with Gro Harlem Bruntland, Mary Robinson and Margot Wallström.
Road to Copenhagen was realized in collaboration with TNT, SKF, Svensk Fjärrvärme, HSB, P&G, Boston Power, Osram and Whirpool. The initiative ended up in a number of recomendations on climate justice and the continuing international climate work, that was handed over to the UN Chief Mediator Yvo de Boer.
The Sustainable Transports initiative contributes to sustainable solutions for suppliers and purchasers of transport services.
In the Business Climate Call, leading Swedish companies have showed that they want to take an active part in the climate issue.
